For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

This Book Contains: Romance, Violence, Friendship, Competition, Rebellion and A Love Triangle.

My Thoughts:

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book but what I got was so much more.  I never thought I would enjoy this book this much.  I was never a huge fan of reality shows so, when I saw that this was compared to the Bachelor I thought that this was not really for me.  Boy was I ever wrong!   I loved the main character I found her to be smart and full of life.  She always let her emotions get the best of her and in away that is what I think I liked the most.  I love the fact that she wasn’t a push over and was willing to say what was on her mind.   I am very similar in nature so I could so see myself in her place.

Over all this book had so much more going on than just the just some contest to find the next princess.  There were rebels storming the castle threating the royal family.  There were also, a love triangle going on which complicates the matter.  If I had to choose at this time I would have to choose the prince.  Although, I have to say one of my favorite quotes in the book is when America tells Aspen that she chooses herself instead of one of them.

I think that anyone who loves dystopian would really enjoy this book.  I also think people who enjoy romance, royalty and love triangles will enjoy this book.  I really think this would be a very enjoyable read for just about anyone.  It is a really good start to what I see as a very intriguing series.
