This is a novella about Lenobia who is a character from the house of night series. This is about Lenobias life before she becomes a vampyre and a teacher at the House of Night. You do not have to read the series to read this book, but it may get you interested in the books.
Lenobia is a bastard daughter of a french Baron. She assumes the identity of her dead half-sister to escape the life of a servant and the possible rape at the hands of lecherous men at court. The Bishop an evil man who want to make Lenobia his mistress. Martin a man of color that Lenobia falls madly in love with. He will do anything to protect Lenobia.
I really enjoyed this short novella about a character that has always intrigued me from the House of Night series. This is a very compelling story of Lenobia and how she survived until she became a vampyre. I love the glimpse you get into her life and her first love. You get to see how strong she is and where this strength comes from. This is a short book and it is packed full of twists that you do not see coming. I am amazed how much story this author was able to pack into such a short novella. The only thing that would have made this book even better would have been if you could have seen further into Lenobias life after the change. If you are a fan of this series you will want to add this to your list to read. Also, if you just want a really good read that is quick and full of twists you should check this book out.
