The year is 2009.  Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler.  Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

THIS BOOK CONTAINS:  violence, Sex, Love, Time Travel, and Death.

The Plot:

The plot reminded me of a movie called Jumper which stared Hayden Christensen.  Basically a boy being raised by his father mother gone and he finds that he has a slight problem.  His problem is that is travels back in time occasionally.  His friend is the only person that he has told and they are trying to figure out how this is happening.  Until one day his girlfriend is shot and he goes back in time to hopefully prevent it from ever happening.

The Character:

Jackson is a young man dealing with family is while also trying to figure out how he seems to be able to travel back in time.  Holly is the love interest and she is very laid back.  Adam is their friend who is extremely smart and is trying to help Jackson with his little problem.  You also have Jackson’s dad who seems to be keeping a lot of secrets.

My Thoughts:

I wonder if the author based this book off the movie Jumper which, happens to be one of my favorite movies.  I loved the scientific aspect of this book and the way that author makes you believe in time travel.  You feel like you are actually traveling in time with Jackson.  I think that is what I liked about this book the most.  You never felt that you were reading sci-fi, you just get so caught up in the story with all the mystery and danger that the sci-fi aspect is just as  believable as everything else that is going on.  That is a really hard thing for an author to do when writing this type of book, because most sci-fi just seems so far out place that you can’t believe it.  I think that Mrs. Cross writes a very compelling and believable story that you just can’t put down.  I also loved that she wrapped this book up so nicely that if she wanted it to be a stand alone it could be but there are so many questions still left to be answered that she can easily turn it into a series.  If you like books with sci-fi in or just want a really good read with a twist to it then this is the book for you!

  1. I actually thought it sounded more like The Time Traveler’s Wife, except in that it’s the man who gets shot.
